| KARDAMENA – FINE WHITE SAND/SHINGLE – MAIN BEACH BLUE FLAG
Helona (turtle) or Kardamena beach stretches for some 3km, located on the west coast a few km from Kardamena which is probably the second largest resort on the island. It consists of beautiful fine, white sand and crystal clear water. The facilities such as sun beds, brollies are good. The choice of water sports are infinite swimming, snorkelling, diving (there’s a dive school just outside town), pedalos, jet skiing, banana rides, extreme rings, water skiing and parascending. The area is a well established tourist resort so, plenty of shops, bars, cafes, tavernas and restaurants a vast array of different styles of food and drink. Fish dishes are the most popular. There’s no shortage of different types of accommodation in which to stay. According to which part of the season you choose, will suit almost everyone. If the nightlife is to hopping find somewhere to stay on the outskirts and use has a base. Places to visit – Temple of Apollo, early Christian Basilica, Ancient theatre. Daily boat to the volcanic Island Nisyros. Transport – Town within walking distance, for rest of Kos excellent bus service, taxis, hire car/motorbike, and if your accommodation is close bicycle. If you’re lucky enough to own or rent a yacht you can rent a berth at Kardamena marina. Distance from Kos Town – 30km - coach transfer 50 mins; 20 mins by taxi From Airport – 5km
