AGIOS STEFANOS SAND Agios Stefanos beach is located in the south-west. Its quiet and peaceful with beautiful flowers growing in the rock formations make a wonderful backdrop for the golden sand, the shallow water is ideal to take your children paddling. In the summer the beach is affected by the Meltemia, or northern winds quite a bonus as the sun beats down, remember to top up with plenty of sunscreen you might feel cool but the suns still a demon. The beach is well organised with sun beds, brollies and plenty of water sports, with the shallow sea and underwater rock formation this area is especially good for snorkelling. Just float and wait for the little fish to swim round you. Nudism is acceptable in parts of the beach. There are many hotels in the area and as Kefalos is no more than 4km away there are plenty of shops, bars, cafes and tavernas. There are also places at the beach to obtain refreshment. Places to visit - two early Christian church ruins, with nice mosaics, unfortunately they are often covered with sand brought in by the wind. You can swim to the small islet of Kastri, a solitary wild rock in the sea. Transport Excellent bus service, taxis, hire car/motorbike, and if your accommodation is close bicycle.
